Frank A Pomponio Jr.

Frank Pomponio passed away peacefully on July 21,2026.

His life was a beautiful reflection of love, creativity, faith, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.

Frank was born in Denver, CO on August 25,1931 to Frank and Rose Pomponio.

He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years Elsie, also of Denver; Daughter, Susan (Todd); Son-in-law, Rick Suer; Son, Frank (Tanya); Son, John (Stephanie); Daughter, Annie Pomponio; 17 Grandchildren - Bella, TJ, Beau, Evelyn (Brian), Lainee (Tyler), Matt (Lindsey), Jen (Joey), Jon (Kelsey), Chelsea (Dillon), Dax, Frankie, Vinnie, Johnny, Max, Rocco, Gia and 10 Great Grandchildren!

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose Pomponio; grandson, Cameron Hartley; and daughter, Judy Suer.

Frank grew up in North Denver and made quite the name for himself in Baseball, Boxing, playing piano and Singing (believe it or not they used to call him “the young Frank Sinatra”, well his Mom and his Aunts called him that). He also liked to paint in his younger years.

He was a proud graduate of St. Joes high school, “Go Bulldogs”.

Frank joined the Air Force and worked on airplanes, repairing sheet metal etc. He always downplayed his service in the Korean War (because he never saw combat) however, when participating in a Honor Flight he met a war pilot who told him “without you I would never have been able to fly or fight”. He did feel proud after that.

Frank married the Love of his Life, Elsie Cameron, at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on July 25th, 1959; almost 67 years ago!!!

During the early years of their marriage Frank was a Glazer (working with glass). He was so good at it, that even though he left that business he has helped countless friends and family with their windows.

Frank changed careers and started selling cars at Hover Motors in North Denver. He really became quite the legend in North Denver and beyond. If you bought a car from Frank you were treated with incredible respect. He was always fair and made sure everyone got a good deal. So he built quite the following, if you bought one car from him, you bought all your cars from him and you brought your family and friends in to buy from him also. As the Hover Ford ad that featured Frank said, “They had the sharpest pencil in town”!

Frank was a Devoted Catholic, attending Mt. Carmel Catholic Church through his youth and Holy Family Catholic Church his entire adult life. He and their many friends had bible studies with the Del Hierros at his house. He shared and showed his faith to his children and made sure they all knew and loved the Lord.

As a young adult and beyond well into his 90’s, Frank LOVED the outdoors. Hunting, Cycling with the “Veraldi Vultures – we ride to eat club”, skiing, golfing and his biggest passion, Fly Fishing! Just this past year he was still trying to “hit Georgetown” for a quick fishing trip. All these things Frank loved were shared enthusiastically with his friends and all of his family.

In his “senior” years Frank became a McDonalds and Wendy’s frequent flyer, meeting up with friends almost every morning to share a cuppa coffee and “shoot the breeze”

He and Elsie spent nearly every Saturday night eating Mexican Food and then playing cards with friends.

Frank knew no strangers and his presence was a blessing to everyone, his legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren and all the lives he enriched throughout his 94+ years!

Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, July 31st. Rosary at 10:30 a.m., Mass at 11:00.
