He was born to Frank M. and Lauretta M. (Christensen) Weed. Frank grew up in Santa Cruz and in his youth was a paperboy for the Santa Cruz Sentinel. He graduated from Santa Cruz High School. At this time he became a Christian accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He also played the clarinet in the schools he attended. He attended Monterey Jr. College before going to Fresno State College in Fresno, CA. In Fresno he met his future wife Elizabeth Marie (Fast) Weed in the Memorial Baptist Church. During his last yearof college he was drafted December 1, 1960 due to not having enough credits. After boot camp at Ft. Ord Frank and Elizabeth were married in the Fresno Memorial Church February 18, 1961.Frank then was sent in March to Warrenton, VA for his Army duty at a security base. Elizabeth was able to go with Frank to Virginia. In September 1962 he was given an early out to be able to finish his college education. He graduated June 1963 with an Electronics Engineer Degree. His first job out of college was at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco repairing/installing radio and phone systems into the submarines. He worked there a year and then went to work for the National Park Service. Frank was transferred from their San Francisco office in 1971 when they created a new Service Center in Denver along with fellow employees from the Washington, DC office. He was their until he retired in 2003 as Chief, Tele-communications Engineering. Frank then went to work for the Federal Fish & Wildlife Service in Denver to 2008 when he retired following a March cardiac arrest. His outside interest were trolleys, Garden trains (G Scale) in the home yard and collecting lighthouses especially from areas he had visited while in the Park Service. He also was always involved with music in the various churches attended in singing (solos or in trios or in quartets) or playing his clarinet or leading the congregation singing. Frank and Elizabeth moved February 2018 to Colorado Springs for health issues to be near son, John.
Frank is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of 61 years, son John his wife Susan and their children Janelle and Austin Weed. He also has two siblings, Laurence (Helen M.) Weed of Colorado Springs and his sister Sharon E. (John) Hendrick son of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank M. and Lauretta M. Weed, his parents-in-law Henry G. and Kathryn R. (Janzen) Fast and son, Frank Weed, II.
Frank was named for his great grandfather Frank Parker Blodgett.
