

Fred was born on January 1, 1945, to August and Marguerite Kerstiens in Denver, CO. After graduation from Alameda High School in 1963, he went on to study Journalism at the University of Colorado, where he graduated in 1968.
That same year, he met and wed Adeline Lowsley, and went on to have three children, Tony, Rick, and Mary Ann.
Fred served with distinction at the Lakewood Police Department from January 1974, to April 2006. In addition, he served the United States Army in active duty from 1969 to 1972, and then in the Army Reserves, where he retired as a Colonel in 2005.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, August and Marguerite Kerstiens, and his sister, Linda Smith.
Fred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deline; sister, Donna Anderson; son, William A. Kerstiens and his wife, Nicole; son, Richard J. Kerstiens and his wife, Kathy; daughter Mary Ann Kerstiens; five adoring grandchildren, Tim, Katie, Jack, Reagan, and Riley; and one great-grandson, CJ.
Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (969 Ulysses St, Golden, CO 80401)
at 10am on January 12, 2022. Reception follows mass and Committal at Ft. Logan National Cemetery will occur at 2 PM, Staging area "A" .
