Garth Edgar Bond was born on March 5 1942 in Gallup New Mexico, the son of Edgar Bond and Grace Ashcroft. He was the third child with an older sister Hazel, older brother Karl, and younger brother Jamie. Garth was a good student but a great basketball player at Ramah High, one of the stars of the team. He enjoyed watching basketball his entire life, particularly after moving to Colorado in the late 1980’s and becoming a Nuggets fan.
Garth married Myrl Ann Hoffman in August 1964 and they were happily married for 55 years until her passing late in 2019. Garth had a son, Shaun, daughter-in-law Kremena, a daughter Stephanie (Franklin), three granddaughters Erin, Kathleen, and Rachel, and one great-granddaughter Leona. He was able to know and spend time with all of them during the latter years of his life and was a very proud of his family.
Garth worked for the Department of Agriculture for many years in several roles in New Mexico, Washington D.C., and Denver. Retirement gave him the time he wanted to spend on gardening, short trips around Colorado, and building or fixing things in his workshop. Always concerned about others, Garth was well-liked by both his neighbors and friends. He was the kind of guy they could count on.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
