George was born in Bejelnia, Yugoslovia on April 21, 1919. He served in the Yugoslav Army and spent four years in a German prisoner of war camp. He then served in the British Army. During that time he met and married Erna Elisabeth Braun on October 1, 1949. They immigrated to the United State in 1951 and moved to Lakewood, CO. George worked for the Gates Rubber Company for 35 years building tires and later fan belts.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years Erna, children Peter Novakovich and Barbara (Mark) Lund and grandchildren Ellen (Scott) Henneman, Audrey (Eric) Ursic, Andrea (Ryan) Teague, and Samuel Lund and 7 great-grandchildren.
