Gerald W. Marty

Gerald W. Marty, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2018. He was born December 5, 1925 to Albert & Margaret in Denver, Colorado. His parents emigrated from Switzerland and arrived in the Denver area in 1906. They eventually settled on the family farm in Henderson in 1913. Under the guidance of his parents, Gerald developed strong values, work ethic and passion for farming and livestock. Gerald graduated from Union High School in Adams City in 1943.

He spent his entire life working on the family farm with his father and brother, and later with his son and nephew. The small family farm soon became a larger farming and cattle feeding operation. Reclamation, real estate investment and land development later complemented the business. Gerald married Patricia (Mulligan) on February 20, 1960. They were happily married for 58 years and were blessed with three children. They lived on Marty Farms until 2008, at which time the decision was made to transition the farm to an industrial development due to the surrounding growth in the area.

Gerald was never one to sit quietly and just relax. He always felt he needed to be working on something and never quit until the job was done. Many times, this meant being late to a social event and even missing dinner on occasion. His lifelong love for farming and cattle feeding never faded. In recent years when his physical health declined, he still remained active in the family business. Over the years, Gerald enjoyed being a member and holding positions of leadership in Colorado Cattle Feeders Association, Prime Rib Club of Brighton, and Knights of Columbus. He belonged to the Edelweiss Club and Polka Lovers Klub of America throughout the years, where he and Pat fulfilled their love of dancing! He was also a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church. Gerald was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved sharing his life stories with his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow. He is survived by his wife Pat, children LuAnn (Stephen) Zehnder, Patricia (Raymond) Becker, William (Linda) Marty, and fourteen grandchildren: Danielle (Brent) Cass, Sterling, Alexandra, Victoria, and Sebastian Zehnder; Stephanie (Adam) Yamada, Mitchell, and Josephine Becker; Joshua, Madison, Emily, Leah, Gretchen, and Nicolette Marty and two great grandchildren: Arya & Callie Yamada.

The rosary will be held Tuesday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Mortuary. Requiem Mass, Wednesday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, 2566 Sable Blvd., Aurora, with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
