

Gerald LaVerne Roberts, 93, passed away January 8, 2022 in Golden, Colorado. He was born in Denver, January 20, 1928. Jerry was happily married for 57 years to Evelyn Roberts (Walker) whom he met at the Rainbow Dance Hall. She preceded him in death in 2010. Gerald is survived by his son Steven, daughter Sharon, grandson Harrison, granddaughter Hanna and his sister Nadine Caldwell, and his sister Burdette Lai who preceded him in death. At age 17 he joined the Army/Air Corps and served as a Corporal for 3 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree, and then achieved his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Denver. He went on to work for the government for 7 years as an accountant at the Federal Finance Center. Gerald’s distinguished career lead him to the University of Denver, where he worked for 22 years with Office of International Programs under the Denver Research Institute. He was tasked with setting up Grant and Contract programs for Universities, which lead him to travel internationally to Tokyo, Guatemala, Thailand, Brazil, and Haiti.
Jerry loved working hard and building a beautiful life with the “love of his life” his wife Evelyn. He remodeled and built onto each of the homes they lived in and provided space for Evelyn to tend to her large flower and vegetable gardens. He loved the outdoors and sports, hunting, fishing, shooting, playing poker with friends, water and snow skiing, tennis, dancing and traveling with his RV partner Evelyn. Of his many wonderful qualities Jerry was first a devoted husband. He was a wonderful father, with a witty, joking, always knowing what to do and how to fix it personality. He will be greatly missed.
