Trudy was a rock. Her first job was a stay at home mom to Andy, Lester, and John. Talk about a full-time job! Handling 3 boys that were 5 years apart with different needs and wants. She ran the house with love and dedication. After Andy and Lester left the house, Trudy needed something to keep her busy. She dabbled in doing volunteer work for Welcome Wagon, welcoming new neighbors to the area. This lasted a few years, but she needed to do more and interact with people. She took a position with Safeco Insurance and worked for them over 20 years until she retired, meeting wonderful friends. She was not big on change, one house, one job.
Trudy had a passion for life. She loved to travel, play cards and most of all enjoy her European heritage. Being raised by a Swiss father and German mother, she became incredibly involved in the Swiss Society. This meant the Padon family was hooked on picnics, events, and most of all polka dancing! With her friends and family, she performed authentic polka dances at festivals and traveled the country following polka bands.
Trudy was very close to her family and her friends. She taught her children right from wrong (not that it worked), but she tried. She was with the love of her life, Dan for the last 30 years and they created a memorable life with laughter and special moments. Trudy was kindhearted and had a soft spot for her kids in her life. She was wonderful with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved very much.
There were many wonderful aspects to Trudy’s life and the many ways that she touched our lives. She will be remembered as a wonderful companion to Dan, who cherished her, a caring mother and sister, great friend, and an awesome polka dancer. In all these ways and more, she made our lives richer and fuller. Now that she has passed away, of course, we feel emptiness and pain, confusion and maybe even anger at death, but in many ways, the gift of Trudy’s life is still here with us. She lives on in our memories and stories, and in what all of us have become because of her. So, I encourage you to share today, tomorrow and in the years to come your memories and stories, and to share the pain of your loss as well. In this way, we will keep the gift of Trudy’s life alive.
