Gilbert was a man with a vibrant spirit, a generous heart, and a deep love for his family and friends. He is survived lovingly by his five children: Gilbert Jr., Savannah, Vanessa, Melissa, and Rayleen; his sons-in-law, Michael and Isaiah; his mother, Sylvia; stepfather, Jack; brothers, Anthony and Aaron; along with many beloved family members and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Manzanares; the love of his life, Stephanie Lopez; his grandparents; and several close family members.
From a young age, Gilbert had a lively soul and a natural gift for making friends wherever he went. If he saw someone in need, he would give his last to help them. He was fiercely protective of the people he loved and would go above and beyond for family and friends.
Gilbert was a strong father who instilled important values, morals, and life lessons in his children—lessons they will carry with them forever. Though life brought obstacles, the love and wisdom he gave his children will never be lost.
He loved sports from an early age, including football, basketball, skateboarding, boxing, and karate. He also had an unforgettable love for music and dancing—especially breakdancing—and was known to challenge just about anyone to a dance battle.
Gilbert was also a true jokester who loved to make people laugh and stir things up in the most playful way. His humor, lively spirit, and larger-than-life personality brought joy to those around him. But beneath that playful side was a man who loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
Gilbert will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, his strength, his fierce love for family, and the unforgettable energy he brought into every room. Though he is deeply missed, the memories and love he gave will live on forever.
Services will be on Thursday, June 4th at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary in the Pavilion of Reflection. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:00am with the Funeral Service starting at 11:00am.
