Gilbert is the beloved husband of Maria (Gigi) Zundt of 41 years. He was the father of Sonny (Kris) Zundt, Austin, Texas, Laura (Darrin) Gonzales, Commerce City, Colorado, Kristie (Richard) Archuleta, Lockbuie, Colorado & Gilbert (Carmen) Zundt, Thornton, Colorado. He was survived by Juan Jose (Teresa) Crosbyton, Texas, Claude (Ramona), Bakersfield, California, Bob (Esther), Ismael (Debbie), Garden City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by one brother, Noe Zundt of Garden City, Kansas.
He was grandfather to 21 Grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Gilbert had retired from Xcel Energy in 2008. He was a serious, quiet man with few words but with a big heart. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for people with whom he came in contact. He was well liked and respected by his co-workers even after retirement. He always looked forward for their visits on any given day. He was very special to his grandchildren. He loved each one for who they were. Although he was a man of few words, his big strong arms would wrap around you when he hugged you, you felt secure and protected. It was his way of telling you he loved you. He was known for his strong handshake; his handshake was his bond which was how he lived his life. He became to be a father figure to many within his wife’s family. He was known as Hon to his wife, Dad to Dana, Tio to Elvira, Jefe to his co-workers Papo to his grandchildren, and Gil and Zundt to others. He occupied a large space in everyones heart. He was always there to help you at any given moment. All they had to do is ask once. For these reasons he will be greatly missed by the entire family and circle of friends.
