Gilmer J. McBride

“Gil,” 88, died May 11, 2012, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, after a lengthy illness. Gil was born March 1, 1924, in Denver, to James S. and Rubie E. (Griffin) McBride. He married Betty Eckhardt in Denver. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June. Gil is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Joyce (DeWayne) Deck of Denver; son, James (Theresa) McBride of Trenton, Ohio; and daughter Janet Ingram of Golden, Colorado. He enjoyed six grandchildren, Jessica (Tom) Wolfe, James (Ashley) Ingram, Julie McBride, Gillian Deck, Michael McBride, and Rebekah (Joshua) Smith. Gil started his own business, McBride Iron Works, and later owned Den-Col Supply Co. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of North High School and attended Denver University. Gil was a lifetime member of Sloan’s Lake Community Church of God. He was a Trustee at Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana, for 15 years. Services will be held at Crown Hill Mortuary, Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 3pm with viewing one hour prior.
