Gladys Jean Dinwiddie, known by family and friends as Jean, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 16, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri to her parents John and Evelyn (Vaughn) Garramone. Jean lived most of her life in Lakewood, Colorado. She graduated from Golden High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado. Her family was her greatest love. Jean relished the times spent experiencing their simple day to day activities together, traveling together as well as celebrating the holidays. She was a wonderful role model for her entire family, becoming an honorary grandma to so many people. Jean leaves behind a wonderful legacy. Jean chose to be a stay-at-home mom, but prior to that she was an elementary teacher. She went back to work and enjoyed a long career with the National Parks Service. Jean was always focused on helping others and her membership in the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority allowed her the opportunity to do just that. One of her primary focuses was raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Her faith was very important to her, she was a member of Green Mountain United Methodist Church since 1967. She was an avid fan of all the Denver professional sports teams and was a long-time season ticket holder for the Colorado Rockies. Jean led a very active life, participating in her H2O Hotties water exercise class well into her 80’s. She enjoyed a backstage tour of the Red Rocks Amphitheater and a margarita with the family at Los Dos just a few weeks ago. Jean loved dogs and owned one for most of her life, all of them being rescue animals. Jean is survived by her son George (Linda) Dinwiddie, grand-daughter Annie Dinwiddie, grandson Jake (Haley) Dinwiddie, great grandson Christian Matthew Dinwiddie and great grand-daughter Gracie Jean Dinwiddie. A celebration of her life will be held at Green Mountain United Methodist Church, 12755 West Cedar Drive, Lakewood, Colorado 80228 on Friday, April 12th at 10:00 a.m. with a reception afterwards. The burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado 80215. The service can be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5zzNJezCO0 . In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
