Glen was born and raised in New Mexico and was adopted at nine months of age by Charlie and Ima Johnson. He later moved with his parents and sister Judy to Colorado, where he graduated from Wheat Ridge High School. Following high school, Glen proudly served in the United States Air Force, including a tour of duty in Germany. He went on to community college, earning a degree in Food Service Management. In 1972, he married Joan, and last year they celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Throughout his life, Glen embraced hard work and entrepreneurship. He held various positions in the food service industry, but found his true calling in self-employment. Over the years, he owned and managed apartment buildings and, together with his wife, Joan, co-owned and operated an RV park, a bead show promotion company, and, most recently, a bed-and-breakfast.
Outside of work, Glen pursued many interests and hobbies. He was an active member of the Rocky Mountain Gem and Mineral Society, where he served in various leadership roles. He enjoyed four-wheeling and collecting. Collections included mineral specimens, stamps and coins, and Waterford crystal, among others. His curiosity and enthusiasm for learning brought him joy throughout his life.
Glen and Joan built a life filled with love, adventure, and family. He is survived by his sister, Judy, and her family; his stepdaughters, Deborah and Catherine, and their children, who affectionately called him 'Papa'. In recent years, he enjoyed being involved with his granddaughter Carina and her three young sons, Sterling, Vaughn, and Jack, whom he affectionately called his “Three Musketeers.”
He will be remembered for his willingness to always lend a helping hand, his very feisty spirit, and his soft heart.
