Harold Arthur Lauffenburger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed from this life into our loving God’s heaven, on October 8th 2020. He was born on January 15th 1927 in Palatine, Illinois at home during a severe winter snowstorm. He was one of seven children of father George J Lauffenburger and mother Marie J Pepper.

Harold grew up working on farms, first that of his own family, then during World War II on the Ottinger farm. It was while working there he met Lois Geraldine Ottinger, whom he married on June 19th 1948 in Elgin, Illinois.

He gained a Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration, which together led to a highly productive and impactful professional career at a number of companies in the electronics industry including Bell Aircraft, Motorola, Pacific Semiconductors, Solar Energy Institute, and Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute (IITRI). Harold worked for IITRI for 26 years, in Chicago, Illinois; Rome, New York; and Mount Arlington, New Jersey, which provided important work for the US Air Force.

Harold was an avid and talented gardener, raising beautiful flowers of many kinds along with vegetables for the family table, ultimately earning Master Gardener certification. His expertise was highly sought after and appreciated by neighbors as well as family members for help in their own gardens.
