Harry K. Hoffman

Harry Kendall Hoffman was born Sept 1, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio and passed away in his home in Littleton, Colorado on October 1, 2015. He moved with his family to Littleton, Colorado in 1963 during his sophomore year of high school. Harry and his family lived at the Columbine Country Club during these high school years. He graduated from Littleton High School June of 1966 and went on to CU (University of Colorado in Boulder) in the fall of 1966. He attended Hastings Bible School the fall of 1967 to summer 1968.

Harry joined the Denver Board of Water Commissions in the spring of 1970 as a junior rodman. He advanced in his positions with the Denver Water Board to eventually settle in the Materials Testing Lab. He loved his job there and loved to talk about "concrete" whenever he could. Harry retired early from the Denver Water Board due to severe back pain which prevented him from doing the job he so loved. Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and target shooting. His physical limitations took their toll in the last years of his life but his kind and gentle spirit, sense of humor and wise counsel were always welcome to those that loved him.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents Robert K. Hoffman and Avis M. Hoffman. He is survived by his sister Lynn L. Miller and her husband Robert F. Miller, Niece Katherine D. LaVelle, Nephew Matthew K. LaVelle and wife Kimberly and daughter Abbigail. 'Hal' as his family called him was a great brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Harry maintained many friendships that lasted almost the entirety of his lifetime. He is preceded in death by his very dear friend Joe Rosser whom he met in High School and remained extremely close to until death parted them. Harry is survived by three of his very dearest friends and their families. Roger Barker and his sons Joshua, Brandon and Travis. Chris and wife Linda Claflin whom he remained close to since the beginning of their friendship in the mid 1960's. Harry also graciously accepted the responsibility of Godparent to their 6 children: Kevin Claflin, Jennifer (Claflin) Miller, Erik Claflin, Stephanie Claflin, Jonathon Claflin and Suzanna (Claflin) Riling. Harry valued his relationships and exemplified honesty and loyalty.

He suffered life's trials with grace and dignity, sharing his experiences with others so that they could benefit from his life's lessons. Harry will always remain an amazing man and a blessing to all the lives that he touched in so many ways. His smile and laughter will be greatly missed.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Littleton Cemetery.
