November 14, 2019
I only knew Helen in the last year and one half of her life. I am an Active Minds presenter at Golden Pond and other retirement facilities. Helen always sat in the front row and was totally engaged in every presentation I made. She always had a big smile and asked great questions. I was dazzled by her intellect and engagement. My favorite memory was when I was making a presentation on China. I referenced President Xi and the city of Xian in the presentation. She stopped me and said that I had pronounced those two names starting with an X differently and why was that, and what was in fact the actual pronunciation of the letter X. I could not help laughing because I knew that if anyone would bust me on a detail like that it would be her. She enjoyed that interaction too. She made me feel special and she was certainly special to me. I miss her every time I am at Golden Pond and she is not in the front row. I will remember her and treasure the times we had together all my life. Thank you Helen for making such a positive impact on my life!
