Helen went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2020, born on February 4, 1928. She was the daughter of Leona and Clyde Edmonds, predeceased, and sister of Betty Jean Talmadge, predeceased, Carol Jane Herring, predeceased, Delores (Bick) Becker, Beverly Mendoza and Judy Bebernes.
She was the wife of John R. Marks for 71 years, married September 2, 1949, and had four daughters: Marilyn Weber, (Faris Weber), Carolyn Marks, Joan Marks (John Moore) and Jane Kelleher. Helen had seven grandsons, Scott Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, RJ Reynolds (Briana), Jay Kelleher (Johanna), Justin Kelleher (Holly), Adam Olinger and Nick Olinger. She had 9 great grandchildren.
Helen was blessed with an extraordinary life, born in Dover, Missouri. She lived in Omaha, Nebraska, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Des Moines, Iowa, Kailua, Hawaii and Colorado.
She was a faithful servant of her Lord and spent most of her life in His service through her music and ministry. Helen was a gospel soloist, making records and CDs, some distributed around the world by the Navigators International Organization. Her most precious ministry was beginning Christian Wonen's Club and started more than 30 clubs around the islands. Her ministry reached hundreds of women, changing their lives. She served in this capacity for over 30 years.
In 2012 John and Helen moved into Brookdale Lakewood Meridian Senior Living facility, and after getting settled, Helen felt the call to start a church service for the residents. She organized a group of local pastors to deliver the messages each month. In addition she organized a bi-monthly Bible Study, led by Pastor Kim Simon of St. Paul's Community Church. In 2018, she began to feel the need to pass on the organization of these ministries to someone else.
In 2018, Helen was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and was afflicted with rapid cognitive decline and hallucinations. She also suffered from loss of sight due to glaucoma. Even though she experienced these physical challenges, she did not lose sight of her faith. She eventually began to forget relationships, but never her faith, even to the end of her precious life.
She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all! As believers, we can rest in the knowledge that this is not good-bye, but rather "Until Later!"
