Helen Wilma Trujillo, a woman of quiet grace, enduring strength, and deep faith. On October 14th, at the age of 99, Helen was called home, surrounded by the family she spent nearly a century nurturing.
Helen was born on May 26, 1927, in Taos, New Mexico, and grew up in Chama alongside her parents and ten siblings. In that bustling home, she built the foundation that would guide her life: a steady devotion to God, a tireless work ethic, and an understanding that family comes first. She answered an early calling to serve others by earning a degree in teaching and working as a teacher’s aide, guiding and encouraging young minds.
In 1951, Helen married the love of her life, Leonard Trujillo. Together, they built a life full of purpose—raising their two children, Vikki and Dale, in Denver, and later making their home on the farm in the mountains above Aguilar, Colorado. Through every season of life; in times of hardship and times of joy, Helen remained steady and grounded in her faith.
Nowhere was Helen's warmth more evident than in her kitchen. To sit at her table was to experience pure love. Her baking of sopapillas, empanadas and her Spanish red chili dishes brought everyone together, filling the home with comfort, laughter, and fellowship.
As a mother, grandmother, and matriarch, Helen was our constant safe harbor and prayer warrior. She cherished every milestone from conversations to holding each new baby in her arms.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Vikki; her son, Dale; her grandson, Adam; her great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Samantha, Conor, and Louisa; and her great-great-grandchild, Sutton.
She was reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Leonard; her granddaughter, Michelle; her eight sisters; her brother; and her parents.
Ninety-nine years is a blessing, but the true gift was the love Helen poured into each of us. May we honor her memory by keeping the faith, gathering our loved ones close around the table, and caring for one another just as she cared for us.
A Memorial Service will be held at Littleton Baptist Church, 1400 W Caley Ave., Littleton, Colorado, on October 30, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
