Herb was born and raised in Denver, CO and attended South High. He started to work at Gates Rubber Co. in their gas station at age 17 and took a leave to join the Army Air-Corp when WWII began. He returned to Gates post WWII and worked there for approx. 47 years in total. He loved his friends and co-workers and they loved him. Herb retired in 1985 as a Supervisor in the Braided Hose Div. His hobbies were selling Christmas Cards, collecting aluminum cans, and spending hours in his shed tinkering on anything he could find.
Herb met the love of his life, Wanda Lee (Preble) Korfhage, at the Rainbow Room Dance Hall. They were married for 63 years.
Herb was preceded in death by his wife, his sister Naomi Campbell, his brothers Stuart and Robert Korfhage, his half-sister Beverly Isabell and half-brother Fred Korfhage.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Korfhage and Randall Korfhage; his grandchildren Cody (Ashley) Korfhage and Kyle Korfhage; his brother-in-law, LeRoy (Sandra) Preble; his nephews Robert (Julie) Campbell and Greg Preble; his niece Jennifer Preble. His first great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Emma Korfhage was born to Cody and Ashley just 18 hours after his passing. He would have loved to have met her and would have cherished her. Evidently this was not in God’s plan for Herb, as he left this life just as Brooklyn began hers. Herb will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His burial service will be held at the Tower of Memories at the Crown Hill Olinger Dignity Mortuary, 32nd and Wadsworth, at 12:00 noon on 8/15/15. Viewing will be prior to the service from 11-12.
