

Homer A. Martin, Jr. of Lakewood, CO passed away on July 1, 2016. He was born on September 14, 1934 to Homer A. and Elva Lou (Moody) Martin in Laredo, TX. In 1952, he graduated valedictorian of Premont High School in Premont, TX, after raising a grand champion steer and reserve champion pig for Jim Wells County Livestock Show. He received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A & M University in 1957, after which time he served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years. In 1958, Homer married Patsy Stovall Martin and they were married for 16 years.
Homer began working for Mobil Oil Corporation (Magnolia Petroleum Company) in 1954 as a Petroleum Engineer and continued working there until he retired in 1991. During that time, he was stationed in Texas, Louisiana, Nigeria, Alaska, Norway, and Colorado.
Throughout his life, Homer enjoyed the outdoors including walking, gardening, camping, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer A. and Elva Lou (Moody) Martin; his brothers, Jim and Robert Martin; and his sister, Elva Lou (Martin) Tibbets. Homer is survived by his children, Michael H. (Courtney) Martin of Alameda, CA and Angela Sue (Mark Guengerich) Martin of Broomfield, CO; his granddaughters, Kate and Brooke Guengerich of Broomfield, CO; and his brother, Richard Martin of Chickasha, OK.
Private services were held at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
