Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday May 6th, 2018 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery.
Hubert was born Denver, Colorado to Hubert and Irma Nelson on April 13, 1939. He married Deanne Kay Sigea on December 18, 1959 in Denver, Colorado. He worked as a machinist for Morse Chain for 23 years, and later retired from State of Alaska Correctional Industries in 1998.
Hubert had an unwavering sense of adventure that brought his family from Colorado to Alaska in 1982, and continued to inspire countless hunting and fishing trips across Alaska and the United States. He held a private pilot’s license that he used to full advantage to explore all of the beauty nature has to offer. Hubert was happiest outdoors hunting and training with his beloved dogs, Nellie and Jazzmine, and he instilled his love of the outdoors in all of children and grandchildren. Following retirement in 1998 he and wife Deanne took to the road and traveled, sightseeing and exploring across the United States in their fifth-wheel snow birding in Arizona. The adventure continued and brought him and Deanne to Helena, Montana in 2014. Hubert was a loving husband, wonderful father and outstanding grandfather.
Hubert is preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Kay Nelson.
Hubert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Deanne Kay; his children, Jeffery and wife Lori, Deirdre and husband Craig Cheek, and Daniel and wife Allison; step-sister, Susie Barnham; and grandchildren, Zachery and wife Melanie Nelson, Jacob Cheek, Luke Nelson and fiancé Jenna Catalano, and Addison Cheek.
