Jack Harvey Hollis, age 98, passed away on November 11, 2019 on Veteran's Day. He was the faithful husband of the late Ruth Hollis; loving father of Carol Knitter (Geoff) and David Hollis (Barbara Nielson); grandfather of Jay Knitter, Emily Hollis and Rachel Hollis, great-grandfather of Bryson Knitter and Lucas Knitter, devoted brother-in-law of Richard Bradley (Dick) and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Born in Joplin, Missouri on October 1, 1921, Jack moved to Denver, Colorado with his parents when he was just two years old. He graduated from North High School in Denver. He joined the Navy during World War II where he served as an Electrician's Mate, First Class on a landing ship tank (LST) in the South Pacific theater. After returning from the war, he dated and married his childhood friend, Ruth Bradley on May 20, 1950 and they purchased a home in Lakewood, Colorado where they spent the great majority of their lives together.
Jack was employed for a period of time as a Colorado State Patrolman and then as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid lover of the outdoors as he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boatin gand driving his Jeep on 4-wheel drive trails in the Rocky Mountains.
The memorial service and burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on November 25, 2019 at 10am, Staging area "A".
