James was born February 19, 1948 in Peoria, Illinois to Emil and Gertrude (Dirks) Konzels. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Frieda (Stahl) Konzels.
Survivors include many cousins and friends who were enriched by his unique and dynamic personality. His love and appreciation of music was a central part throughout his life. James was involved in several musical groups and bands including the Shags at Peoria High and The First National Band in Minneapolis. During recent years he entertained residents with his voice and guitar at Archway Montview Manor and numerous retirement centers. As a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Denver, James served as an usher and was a member of the Red Door Ramblers.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970 and retired from the U.S. Postal Service having worked at facilities in Peoria and Denver.
A burial service is scheduled for December 2 at Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois.
A celebration service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Denver, Colorado on December 2 at 1:30 P.M.
