

Jim grew up in Hallock, MN. He graduated from Hallock high school in 1946 and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Minnesota in 1951. He joined the Army after college and was discharged in 1959 as a Corporal. While in the Army he was stationed in Seoul, Korea for almost 2 years then went into the Reserves at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, he was discharged in 1953. During his time in the Army, he was awarded several medals: United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, 3 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Presidential Unit Citation.
When he got out of the army he moved back to Minnesota and worked in Duluth where he helped build 73 miles of railroad and a harbor on Lake Superior. Jim then moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico and then to Denver, Colorado in 1957 where he met his first wife Jayne and then had their daughter, Diana in 1958.
Jim spent the next 33 1/2 years with the Denver Water Department before retiring early at the age of 62 in 1990. Jim was a hardworking and highly regarded engineer. Coworkers noted that even nearing his retirement he still outworked everyone. Jim took great pride in his work and enjoyed giving tours of Denver and showing visiting friends and family completed engineering projects around the area.
In 1982 Jim met his current wife Janet and loved bloomed. They got married and his family was extended to include 5 additional children, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Fondly known as Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo, and Grandpa Jim, he welcomed his new family with a kind and generous heart, quick wit, and sparky opinions. Jim was a family man and was loved by all. He loved spending his time in his cabin in the Colorado mountains with family and friends.
Over his 95 years James touched many lives, was loved by all, and will be greatly missed.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Freida Reddington, Russell Reddington (brother), Janice Cedegren (sister), Gladys Reddington (sister), Jayne Reddington (1st wife), and Diana Reddington (daughter).
He is survived by his loving wife Janet Reddington, Patricia Clouse (Joseph), Barbara Samudovsky, Sherlee Briere, Dianne Secord (Bill) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his brother Russell’s wife Idelle Reddington and their children and grandchildren, and his sister Janice and Russell Cedegren’s children. Jim had a special fondness and close relationship with his nephew Allard and his wife Ruth Reddington and their children throughout his life.
