James N. Wolke, beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the age of 91 years. James(Jim) was born in Aleppo, Kansas to Michael and Eleanor Wolke and moved to Colorado with his family at an early age. He attended Saint Josephs High School in Denver.
Jim will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 65 years and best friend Naida, their children, Thomas(Deb), Patrick(Lori), Mark(Gwyneth) and Tim, and by his sister Jaline (Bill). James will also be fovever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, extended family and dear friends.
Jim served as a Navy sailor on the destroyer, U.S.S. Massey, in the Pacific during WWII. He was humbled and proud to be included in a 2014 Honor Network Flight to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. Jim also served for over thirty years as a dedicated Fire Fighter for the City of Denver. He was a devout Catholic and long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoyed watching baseball, football, wood working and gardening in his retirement years.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 21, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm, at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 East 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. The viewing will be followed by a rosary service in the mortuary chapel at 6:00 pm.
Funeral services and a Catholic Mass will be celebrated in memory of James on Thursday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 19099 E. Floyd Avenue, Aurora CO 80013. As a veteran, Jim will subsequently be buried at Fort Logan Cemetery at 1:15 pm, staging area "C".
