Jean Ellen Caudy was born in Clear Lake, Wisconsin on December 24th, 1941 to Harry and Ellen Caudy. She attended Amery high school where she graduated number 1 in her class in “commercial” skills (typing, stenography, bookkeeping) in 1960, and was immediately hired at the local bank. Jean met her husband John in high school, and they were married on August 26th, 1961. Jean and John moved to Minnesota in 1962 and then on to Colorado in 1968.
Jean and John raised their two daughters, Deb and Tracey, in Lakewood. Their love of the mountains and skiing is what drew them to Colorado. Many weekends were spent together as a family at their condo in Dillon. Outdoor activities included skiing, hiking, and sailing. They spent 15 years in a beautiful mountain home in Pine, Colorado before moving back to Lakewood.
Her two favorite pastimes were bridge and tennis. She played bridge up until this year and league tennis well into her 70s. Jean joined a bridge group in 1969, and made many lifelong friends. Not only did she love playing tennis, she was also an avid fan, going to the US Open several times and in 2020 she made it to Australia for the Open.
Jean held several secretarial positions at various companies before landing her favorite job, Special Events Coordinator, at the May Company. Throughout the 70s and 80s Jean put together numerous outstanding events for the department stores. Highlights included meeting celebrities like Julia Child, Scott Hamilton and many local professional athletes. After that, John and Jean started their own company, A&A Settlements, Inc. in 1990. They worked side by side until retirement in 2006.
Jean loved to travel. Favorite destinations included the beaches of Maui, sailing the Caribbean with friends, and San Diego. They liked San Diego so much they had a second home there from 2008 until 2016.
Jean had a lifelong dedication to the Lutheran church. Her faith in God was important and unwavering. She volunteered her time with several organizations to help the less fortunate. Her smile and wit were infectious and everyone that met her just loved her.
Jean is survived by her loving husband John Alme of Lakewood, Colorado; daughter Deb Alme of Austin, Texas; daughter Tracey Alme-Crockett and grandson Cade Crockett of Decatur, Texas; and sister Jackie Olson of Flagstaff, Arizona.
