Jeanne Marie Cadieux Taylor was born in Cheboygan, Michigan November 23, 1919 and passed way after a life very well lived on January 27, 2013. She was the daughter of Joseph Henry Cadieux (Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada) and Bernadette M. Gardner (Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada) who were the proprietors of "THE HUB,” a Cheboygan dry cleaning, pressing, altering, and clothing repair business located on Main Street. She was the eighth of nine children. Preceding her in death are Agnes (McCash), Bernadette (Chalker), Clinton Lawrence, Clifton, Luella Mae, Lillian Isabella (Fisher), Joseph Henry II and Richard.
Jeanne attended Fordson High School in Dearborn, Michigan graduating in 1936 (two years early having skipped two grades because of academic excellence). She became an executive assistant working at American Airlines in the City Office at City Airport in Detroit and later Willow Run which also opened the door to her lifelong love of
travel.
She met Colvin E. Taylor, the love of her life, on a blind-date in 1941 and they married on September 10, 1943 in Dearborn, Michigan. They began their family in 1950 and moved from Royal Oak in 1960 to the home that they designed and built at Pine Lake where they happily lived at the *end of the road* until their move to be closer to their Colorado family in 2011.
When their three children were of school age she secured a position with Ford Motor Company in the Tractor Division, which she maintained until her retirement in 1985. All who knew her knew that she loved both her family and her career and she successfully balanced both with her usual optimism (“this too shall pass”), persistence and willingness to do whatever it took to make sure that the job got done --- whether that meant raising the family or working to keep the wheels-turning in her Ford family. She was a well-known hockey-mom and often verbally assisted the referees when she saw one of their questionable calls. She was also renowned for her singing abilities as witnessed by the reaction of her children when she would wake them with her rendition of Oh What a Beautiful Morning --- the alarm clock actually sounded melodious in comparison.
Retiring in 1985 Jeanne and Colvin enjoyed many years of retirement together traveling with family and friends both near and far with many trips to visit their daughters, grand-daughters and families --- in Colorado. They rarely missed any of the big or small events in their families’ lives and participated in home-remodeling projects, graduations, weddings and caring for grandchildren with great enthusiasm.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Colvin of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Westminster, Colorado; their children, Barb (Jay Carpender), Jan (Rich Boyes) and Colvin E. Taylor, Jr. (Susan); three grandchildren (Elizabeth, Katherine and Colvin III); and three great grandchildren (Cade, Hannah and Mia).
The family has greatly appreciated the many expressions of love and care both during her final days and since her passing. They are particularly grateful for the wonderful care that she received from the caregivers of Keystone Place at Legacy Ridge, Always Best Care and Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
We know that she is now in a place where she can again dance, read, see the beautiful clouds, hear all the conversations around her and participate fully in everything that brought her so much joy. A celebration of Jeanne's wonderful life will be held in Michigan later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanne's name to Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties (2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, CO 80026) or the organization of your choice.
