Jill Ann (Gill) Engdahl of Arvada, Colorado, passed away on January 25, 2024, at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Jill was born on March 5, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, to Douglas E. and N. Jeanne (Wilhelm) Gill. She graduated from Arvada High School in 1976, where she played the flute and was in the marching band. Following graduation, she was employed by Lakeside National Bank, 1st Bank of Westland, and State Farm Insurance Company.
On June 9, 1979, Jill married Blaine A. Engdahl. They were blessed with two daughters – Amanda Joy and Alyssa Grace.
Jill cherished her family, especially her granddaughter HannaLynn. Jill attended Hanna’s soccer, softball, and basketball games. She loved the outdoors, wild animals (especially moose, sand hill cranes, and whooping cranes), fishing, antique automobiles, and travel. Blaine and Jill’s summer 2023 road trip to Alaska was her favorite, and they took Flat Hanna with them to take pictures to share with HannaLynn.
Jill was a Denver Broncos fan and a somewhat reluctant Nebraska Huskers fan. She loved gatherings with family, s’mores, Oreos, and Sue’s Cherry Jello Fluff. Jill also loved photography, good music, flowers – roses, jonquils, daffodils, tulips, Colorado columbines, and daisies, and she really, really loved butterflies. Butterflies had been her favorite since she was a little girl – watching them flutter and float by in the breeze or land on a pretty flower – or on her hand.
Jill is survived by her husband Blaine, daughters Amanda Engdahl (Erie, Pennsylvania) and Alyssa Engdahl (Reno, Nevada), granddaughter HannaLynn, sister JoLynne (Bill) Richter, brother Steven Gill, sisters-in-law Kyla Engdahl, Susan Stitzel, and Lynnae (Gerald) Boyd, five nieces, many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and special friend Candy Peterson. She is also survived by her dear pets – Blue, Sophie, Chloe, and Grizzly.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents – Doug and Jeanne Gill, her in-laws – Claire and Lilla Engdahl, her grandparents – Joe and Cora Gill, Claude and Opal Wilhelm, Bill and Mabel Ebert, and her nephew – Eric Richter.
A memorial service for Jill will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, followed by a reception.
