

Joan Frances Casto Arbogast passed peacefully in her sleep in her home on May 16, 2021. Joan was born March 2, 1929 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Lloyd and Audry Casto. She was the eldest of four. Her younger siblings were Margaret May, Aubrey Lee (Sonny) and Opal Jean fondly known as “Auntie Jean.”
She married Harry Lynn Arbogast on Oct 16, 1945. Soon after that they moved to Colorado and started a family together. Joan was a homemaker for many years. Later she went to work at Montgomery Wards at the Villa Italia as a front office clerk. She later worked for her good friend Penny Burnett at her wedding apparel and costume shop, A Total Image. She loved her job. Joan was a marvelous seamstress, with crocheting and knitting thrown in. She was an incredible quilt master. Her beautiful quilts even hung in the Capitol Building in Denver. She volunteered her time with a quilting bee. She was known by all of her grandchildren as the "Grandma with the Magic Needle.” She had the most amazing garden and if you ever went to her home, you would find her bent straight over pulling weeds. She was always so busy, she drank many ‘cold cups of coffee’. Later in life, Joan met Jim Fritzinger who she loved and spent many an evening out dancing, dancing, dancing.
Joan is survived by her beloved sister Jean Adkins, They traveled together as ‘Thelma and Louise.’ They had many wondrous adventures to Europe, the East and West Coasts and right in their own backyard. Not only were they sisters, they were best friends. She is also is survived by her brother Aubry Lee (Sonny) Casto and his wife Nita. Her children Sandra Davis (Robert) Randall Arbogast (Sydney Keating (Thomas) Abbie Brester (Kevin). Her grandchildren, Robert (Tyce) Davis, Aislinn Arbogast, T.R. (Reid) Keating, Megan Ziefel, Kira Tenuta, Kali McKibbin. Her great-grandchildren, Kyra Bailey, Hunter Bailey, Charles Hile, Chloie Joan Hile, Ivy Marshall, Zachary Marshall, Carter Keating, Maverick McKibbin, Leo Tenuta, and Righley Ziefel. She is also preceded in death by her husband Harry Lynn Arbogast, Her stepson William James (Bill) Arbogast, Her sister Margaret Grant, her companion Jim Fritzinger, her beloved grandson Jason (Jake) Davis, her son-in-law Robert (Bob) Davis and her brother- in-law James (Jim) Adkins.
“Although you cannot hear her voice or see her smile any more. Your mother walks beside you still just as she did before. She listens to your stories and she wipes away your tears; she wraps her arms around you and she understands your fears. It’s just she isn’t visible to see with human eye. But talk to her in silence and her spirit will reply. You’ll feel the love she has for you, you’ll hear her in your heart; she’s left her human body but our souls will never part."
