Joan loved working as a secretary in the school system for many years. She worked in the Jefferson County school system in Lakewood Colorado. She was very involved with her church, Faith Bible Chapel in Colorado and Christian Life Center in Washington state. Joan was a true lover of all animals, owning multiple cats, dogs and horses.
She was predeceased by her sister, Glenys Gentile and her daughter, Katherine 'Katie' Jane. She is survived by her spouse, Douglas Nielsen; son, Peter Nielsen; daughter, Marie (Eugene 'TJ') Nielsen-Jones; granddaughters, Leanna (Cory), Charles and Talynn Jones and sisters, Kathryn Nielsen and Susan Bouril.
