John Robert Dienst

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Robert Dienst, age 84, of Broomfield, Colorado passed peacefully on September 15, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.

John was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Margaret and Warren Dienst. He had three brothers, Bill, Gary, and Larry, all of whom preceded John to rest in peace.

John met his wife, Wanda in West Virginia, and they were married in Saint Albans, WV in June of 1960. John and Wanda moved to Colorado that same year and were blessed with the births of their two daughters, Deborah LeBon (Johnny) and Cheryl Neal (Mike).

John leaves behind his loving wife, daughters and spouses, and treasured grandchildren, David Pilger (Kenda), Valerie Rowe (Jason), Adrienne LeBon, Jennifer Puckett (Ryan), and Mikayla Neal. He is also survived by his cherished great-grandchildren, Landon, Ellie, Teagan, and Jack.

We will miss his sense of humor, wonderful blue eyes, and his strong love for his family.

John’s passion to serve others led him to his time spent in the USMC, as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT in the Arvada Fire Department, and 32 years at Rocky Flats Plant as a Firefighter, Fire Marshal, and Shift Superintendent. He was a Cold War Hero and was decorated as such for his response to a major fire in 1969 at the Rocky Flats Plant.

Some of his favorite pastimes were skiing, boating, woodworking, and traveling. He was a blessing to anyone who knew him, and his kindness and compassion were without limit.

John’s funeral service will be held at Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery in the chapel at 7777 W. 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 on September 25, 2003 at 2:00 PM.
