John Charles Gonce was born November 14, 1938 to James Bartley Gonce and Elizabeth Mary Younger (Besy). After a long battle with Parkinson’s his suffering ended on June 22, 2022. His life began as a dairy farmer in a small town near Little Rock, Arkansas. He would often reminisce of getting his first refrigerator at the age of 6 and eating ice cream every day from that point on.
As a teenager he moved to Wyoming and joined the Army Corps of Engineers and National Guard. In the 1960 John moved to Denver and started his career in Real Estate and Appraisals. John was a graduate from the University of Denver Majoring in History and Political Science. He was a former President of the Kiwanis Club and received outstanding community leadership award for his involvement in programs for elderly, handicapped and underprivileged. John was active in the Republican Party and ran for State Senate in the early 1980’s. He was a spiritual man who believed deeply in his faith. He will be missed by his friends and family.
John joins his parents, siblings and son Peter Gonce. John is survived by his brother James Bartley Gonce Jr; ex wife Ruth Gonce; kids Anna Gonce, Harmony Bonner (John R. Bonner III) and Salem Grimm; grandchildren Nicole Rose, Forrest Annis, Mateo Gonce, John R. Bonner IV, and Ruth Bonner
Visitation is July 2nd from 12-2pm and a Funeral at 2pm located at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary.
