Joy Sue Gaines
March 29, 1936 – November 23, 2019
Joy Sue McArthur Gaines was born on March 29, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her two loving parents William I. McArthur and Goldie N. Harlin McArthur of Shawnee, OK. and her brother, William B. McArthur of Moore, OK. Joy was married to the love of her life, Vernon L. Gaines Sr. for 25 years, who preceded her in death in 2001.
Joy was a hard working woman, she worked for Perry & Butler Real Estate and Jefferson County Treasurer, where she retired in March of 1997. She was also very active in her community and she received awards such as Outstanding Sales Award from Perry & Butler Real Estate, Active Committee Woman & Captain Award from Jefferson County Republican Party, and Employee of the Month from Jefferson County. Joy was a past President of the Fairmount Homeowners Association, and was a registered clown, and was known as "Okie Dokie". She served as Coors Vice/Advice Volunteer Clowns. Her faith was very important to her, as she was a member and choir member of Applewood Baptist Church. She also served as Westside Parkinson's Group Coordinator and sang with the Heritage Singers of Applewood Baptist Church.
She will be dearly missed by her children, son, Kenneth R. Bryson Jr. of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan G. Bryson Davis of Yukon, Oklahoma; son, James R. Bryson(Carol) of Gillette, Wyoming; and son John R. Bryson of Yukon, Oklahoma and step-sons Terrell Gaines and Lee Gaines in Colorado. Joy also leaves behind grandchildren, Dawn M. Bryson-Melton (Jay); Nick Bryson (Jordon), Daniel Grazione (Stephanie), and Angela Gaines, as well as 16 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Interment and graveside services at 10:00 am in Golden Cemetery, 755 Ulysses St. Golden, Colorado officiated by Rev. Wendell Phillips.
Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Wendell Phillips, will be held at 11 am at Applewood Baptist Church. 11200 W. 32nd Ave. Wheat Ridge, Colorado followed by a luncheon at Applewood Baptist Church.

Have known Joy Sue since we were in the First grade at
Jefferson school in Shawnee ,OK. Visited with her at several
our SHS class reunions and after she moved back to OK..
Super Gal and very talented.
