

Joyce A. Axelson entered her heavenly home on Friday, October 19, 2012 at her home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at the age of 71. Born on November 22, 1940 in McCook Nebraska to William and Adela (Liebbrandt) Kisker, Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Bill; children Bill and Dawn; her brother Dennis (Janice) Kisker and three step grandkids Kevin, Kurtis and Kristopher McCall. Preceding her in death were her parents William in 1960 and Adela in 2008.
Joyce was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Ash Creek (McCook, NE). She attended kindergarten at Red Willow Public Schools and grades 1st thru 8th at St. John's Lutheran Parochial School- Ash Creek. Joyce attended high school at Red Willow Public Schools and graduated in 1958. The following year she attended Kearney State College and graduated in 1962 with a teaching degree in elementary education. Joyce moved to Colorado and started her teaching career. On June 25, 1968 she married William (Bill) Axelson in Las Vegas, NV.
Joyce taught school for 30 years at Denver Public Schools and retired in 1998. She was a dedicated teacher and loved her work very much. Joyce and Bill loved to travel and have seen many parts of the world. Joyce loved to paint, read, sew, and play the piano, but mostly she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all but never, ever forgotten.
Joyce is survived by her husband Bill D. Axelson, son Bill Axelson, daughter Dawn Axelson, brother Dennis &(Janice) Kisker. She was preceded in death by her parents; William & Adele Kisker.
Memorial service this Friday evening, October 26, 2012, 7pm, at the Wheat Ridge Lutheran Church, 8600 W. 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
A memorial fund has been established in Joyce's name by her daughter Dawn Axelson for contributions to be made in Joyce's memory to different Cancer Programs, and Educational Programs here in Colorado. Contributions can be mailed to Dawn Axelson, P.O. Box 372, Wheatridge, CO 80034.
