June was born in 1926 in Palo Pinto, Texas but grew up in Montbello, California. She was the only child of Walter and Joan (Willhete) Seaman. She met her future husband, Dewey, in elementary school. They both graduated from Montbello High School and were married August 31, 1947 at the Chapel of Roses in Pasadena, CA. They moved to the Denver area where their daughters Kathy and Lisa were born.
June attended college at Los Angeles City College, and later CU Boulder where she obtained her teaching degree. She went on to teach third grade for many years. After retiring from teaching, she opened a small shop in a local hotel, and also worked with Dewey at their plumbing and contracting business, doing administrative and accounting work.
June and Dewey enjoyed traveling and frequently visited Japan and Mexico, as well as trips around Europe. In their later years, they went to Hawaii and Las Vegas with family. Other activities that June devoted her time to included tap dancing, doing crossword puzzles (in ink!), watching game shows, playing cards, bingo and the lottery, and hosting for holidays. She and Dewey regularly attended King of Glory Lutheran Church in Arvada. Additionally, June was a consistent supporter of the Lakewood Symphony Orchestra where Dewey and a granddaughter were string players.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Joan, and her step-mother Ruth Seaman. Her beloved husband Durward “Dewey” Adkins also passed in October of 2011; they were married 64 years.
Surviving family includes her children Kathy and Lisa (Steve).
