61, of Arvada, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly September 2, 2013. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was a master carpenter in the Denver metropolitan area for 34 years. He was an avid bicyclist with a passion for his family, his work as a carpenter and being outdoors. His passing has left his family and friends with a profound and devastating sense of loss. Ken left a legacy of hard work, an unyielding zest for life, and a fighting spirit; his motto was, "never give up, never stop fighting." He was well liked, blessed by all who knew him and a blessing to others. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan Hillyard; two daughters Julie Hillyard, and Theresa Hillyard; two sons David Hillyard (Jenny) and Michael Hillyard; and 6 grandchildren, Paiton, Jon, Tristan, Dalton, Claire and Jaxon. A private service was held on September 9, 2013 at 9am, at Olinger Crown Hill, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO.
