

Kenneth Rowland Stout (Ken), 86, died January 31, at Collier Hospice after a brutal battle with squamous skin cancer. He is survived by his wife, Rita Wittich Stout, to whom he was married for thirty nine years and was preceded in death by Rita’s daughter, Carol Baird. He was previously married to Shirley Blades with whom he had two children, Diane Stout of Salem, Oregon, and Glen Stout of Albuquerque, New Mexico. His two grandchildren, Kevin and Jessica Stout live in Albuquerque. He is also survived by a brother, John, currently living in Durham, England. Ken was born in County Durham England. Following his graduation from The University of Birmingham, England, with First Class Honors in Oil Engineering and Refining, he joined the Royal Dutch Shell as a trainee as an Exploitation Engineer and worked in London and The Hague, Netherlands. He continued in this capacity for Royal Dutch Shell in Trinidad, West Indies. From there he moved to Houston, Edmonton, Canada and in 1963 moved to Denver in an executive position with Colorado Oil and Gas. After a brief stint with Coastal States he joined the Fluor Corporation in 1973 as VP of Production and Engineering. His responsibilities were world wide. When Fluor sold their oil and gas assets in 1986, he joined and became VP of several different oil companies before officially retiring as a consultant in 1999. He was an avid gardener, reader, enjoyed cards and being a student of the stock market.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, on Monday, February 13th at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 9200 West 10th Ave (at Garrison) Lakewood, Colorado, 80215.
