The world lost a bright light on September 24, 2025, when Kevin Anthony Gray passed away in Commerce City, Colorado, at only 39 years old. Born on July 6, 1986, in Vallejo, California, Kevin — lovingly known to his family as “Bubba” — carried his California roots proudly wherever life took him.

A Son, Brother, and Father Above All
Kevin was the beloved son of the late Tina Thomas and George Gray, and the devoted stepson of Regina Richardson. He came from a large and close-knit family, a tapestry of siblings and relatives who loved him deeply: brothers Richard and Thomas, sisters Kristine, Alicia, Marriah, Shaela, Yolanda, Denise, and Aileen, and the memory of siblings Bobby and Demetrius who went before him.
Kevin shared a close and unshakable bond with his Aunt Keri, who stood beside him with love and support throughout his life.
He was also preceded in death by his grandmother Diane and his Aunt Gail, both of whom held special places in his heart.
Yet above every title he carried, the one he cherished most was “Dad.” His children, Zamir (12) and Maliyah (8), were the heartbeat of his life. Everything he did, and everything he endured, was with them in his heart.

A Life of Personality and Passion
Kevin grew up between Vallejo, California, and Arvada, Colorado, graduating from George Washington High School.
He worked many years with King Soopers, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and pride in his work. Kevin built friendships with coworkers and customers alike, earning respect for his strong work ethic and steady presence. He was more than just an employee — he was someone people could depend on.
Outside of work, Kevin’s true passions came alive. He loved fixing cars, especially classics, fishing on quiet days, drawing, listening to music, and following sports. He had a natural gift for bringing old engines back to life, and his adventurous and comedic personality made him the life of any gathering. His ability to make people laugh and feel comfortable will forever be remembered.
Though Colorado gave him memories — including the unforgettable chance to meet the Denver Broncos — his loyalty never wavered. Kevin was a true 49ers fan, loyal to his California roots.

His Fight With ALS
In the summer of 2022, Kevin received news that would change his path: a diagnosis of ALS. For many, such a diagnosis might have marked the end of joy and hope, but not for Kevin. He chose to fight, to live, and to love in the face of the disease.
ALS may have challenged his body, but it never conquered his spirit. He faced each day with the same humor, loyalty, and courage that defined his life. His family rallied around him, capturing pictures, spending time, and building memories that will outlast even the cruelest disease.
They remember him as a silent warrior — steady, strong, unbreakable in spirit.
As his family put it: “He never gave up his fight. Even with losing so much, he never quit. We want his resolve to show people that no matter how much life throws at you, never give up.”
⸻
His Legacy
Kevin lived by a simple truth: “Family before anything.” He was the one who showed up, the one who supported others, the one who gave love freely without expecting anything in return.
His greatest pride was his children. His joy was found in the simple things — a good day by the water, an afternoon under the hood of a car, or sharing laughter with his brothers and sisters. His presence was a light for everyone who knew him, and his memory will be carried forward in the lives of those who loved him.
If you had to sum Kevin up in three words, they would be: Kind. Caring. Funny. Yet even those words fall short of describing the fullness of his heart and the way his presence touched lives.

Final Words
Kevin’s story is one of resilience, loyalty, and laughter. Though his time was cut short, his spirit remains unbroken. His love continues in his children, his family, and every heart he touched.
In one of his final messages to his cousin, Kevin shared words that now speak to us all. He admitted that even in moments of pain, family meant everything to him. He reminded us that love does not end with this life — it carries on into the next. He urged us to live each day as if it were our last and to cherish the fun and joy we create along the way.
Kevin spoke of his pride in his children, his greatest reason for fighting until the end. He showed gratitude for the love that surrounded him and asked that his family continue to hold one another close.
Those words, meant for one cousin, are now a gift to all of us —
