David Elbert Dobbs (April 21, 1932 - Feb 21, 2022) and Kitty Halene Dobbs (Aug 21, 1932 - June 23, 2018) desired to be celebrated together in their cherished lives. That desire will be fulfilled July 16, 2022 at 9:30 am in the Crown Hill Mortuary Pavilion.
David was born in Mountain Grove, Mo. The family moved around the area, but settled in Cabool, Mo. where David graduated High School in 1950.
Kitty was born in Eddy, Ok. The family moved several times, finally settling in Willow Springs, MO. where Kitty graduated High School in 1949.
David and Kitty met at a square dance when they were 16 and continued to dance through life together. They were married Oct 7, 1950 in Salem, Ark.
Into this union came 4 daughters, Sharon Marie, Davie Ann, Brenda Louise, and Keturah Dean.
In 1959 the family moved to Golden, Co, where David began his 35 year career with the Postal Service. Kitty did a few odd jobs, but mostly mothered her girls. David and Kitty became more involved with the Methodist Church as the girls grew. Working with the youth groups was a choice they loved. That continued as they moved from Golden to Grand Junction, and then finally to Paonia, Co. Those moves were in accordance with David's postal positions, ending as Post Master in Paonia.
This couple loved to travel (especially back roads), fish in all of Colorado, and visiting family and friends. David also loved his hunting each fall. His hunting camps were always full of laughter and stories and food! Kitty always made a full turkey dinner to take to the camp.
David and Kitty started wintering in Yuma, AZ. where they made many new and lasting friendships. That gave the girls another place to vacation, too. They kept busy with many projects including the Red Hat Society for Kitty.
When at home in Paonia, David spent time on the city council, and years in the Lions Club. Kitty was involved with the Methodist Women's group and volunteered in the Thrift shop. Both were always available for anyone that needed a friend or just a shoulder. They are missed by many.
David and Kitty were preceded in death by their parents, Kitty's step-brother Kenneth Kite, David's sister Elizabeth Collins, and their daughter Keturah Larum. They are survived by daughters: Sharon (Don) Boettcher, Davie Ann (Wes) Westlake, Brenda (Tom Aragon) Mills, Son-in-law Mike Larum, as well as 14 grandchildren, 40 some great grand children, and several great-great grands with more to come! Also are Kitty's sister Bonnie Bridges, and David's sisters Linda (David) Bowling, Donna (Charles) Haddock and Wanda Reed, all in Missouri. There are so many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends that are like family.
