Laurel Lee Burns passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2025 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on November 27, 1950, in Zion, Illinois, to Everett “Scottie” and Alice Burns and grew up alongside her siblings Joann, Bruce, Karen, and Janis. Laurel started her family in Zion after graduating with honors from Zion Benton Township High; before settling in Colorado, where she made her home for the rest of her life.
Anyone who knew Laurel will remember her as endlessly creative and generous of spirit. Her passions included sewing, embroidery, gardening, colored-pencil drawing, and stained glass. She loved sharing her beautiful creations, and her famous chocolate chip cookies, with family, friends, and members of her Bible study.
Laurel was also deeply devoted to her community, volunteering regularly for ten years at Community Ministry Food Pantry, serving faithfully at Forefront Church, and was a proud member of The Littleton Fine Arts Guild.
She is survived by her beloved children, Scott Kacsh, Ken Kacsh, Kelley Hall, and Keith Kacsh; and by her cherished grandchildren Alexandor, Tony, Cameron, Marty, Tyler, Jorden, Julianna, and Thomas.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers and cards, please make a donation to Community Ministry Food Pantry, or Forefront Church in her memory.
