Laurel Jean Oberholtzer passed away on July 9th, 2022 in Colorado at the age of 53. Laurel was with her husband Stephen Oberholtzer when she passed. Laurel fiercely battled breast cancer for the last 19 months of her life, and was surrounded with and supported by friends and family during her battle with the disease. Laurel was an inspiring and supportive mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and was truly loved by many.
Laurel was born in Springfield, Ohio, which is where she spent her formative years before attending Bowling Green State University for her bachelor’s degree and the University of Maryland for her master’s degree. Her occupation as an adult was that of a social worker, which she practiced in Ohio, Maryland, California, and Colorado. For the decade prior to her passing Laurel worked as a social worker in Colorado public schools, guiding and enabling students with challenges to succeed in their education and life pursuits, a very fulfilling and rewarding experience for her. Laurel’s gift in life was helping others, and she was incredibly dedicated to her family, friends, and pets (horses and dogs), and had a memorable and adventurous life with all of them in Ohio, California, Maryland, Virginia, Alaska, and Colorado.
Laurel’s survivors include her daughters, Victoria and Cassandra; her husband Steve; her sister Andrea; and her parents Ron and Sally. She is missed immensely, and will be remembered and loved always.
A celebration of Laurel’s life will be held on September 24th, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Club at Rolling Hills, 15707 West 26th Ave., Golden, Colorado.
