Lawrence E. (Larry) Smith passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, October 20, 2017 in Henderson, Nevada. He was born on September 1, 1945 in Enid, Oklahoma the second oldest of 5 children. Following his father's leaving the military, the family moved to Colorado where Larry grew up and attended schools in Denver and Aurora. In 1969, Larry met and married Patricia E. Potter. They had one daughter, Julie, born in 1971. After earning a degree in engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1975, Larry enjoyed a career as a mechanical engineer. Pat and Larry relocated to Henderson, Nevada in 1995 where he continued his engineering career until he retired in 2011. The couple spent their retirement in a community of retirees enjoying golf, travel and amenities of the "golden years". Larry is survived by wife, Pat, daughter, Julie Reitz, son-in-law, Ron Reitz, and grandsons, Brandon and Ethan; siblings, Kathy Lentz, Greg Smith, Mike Smith and their families.
