Lenore Howell Mekeal

Lenore Howell Mekeal was born Dec. 21,1935 in Memphis, TX and died March 4, 2026, she was 90 years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Thomas Howell and Johnnie Groves Howell, her siblings Dolores Ann Howell and Douglas Warren Howell. Her husband Stuart William Mekeal, and her daughter Cynthia Lea Mekeal. She is survived by her sons Leighton William Mekeal (Susan) and Martin Lee Mekeal. She has two Grandchildren, Joshua William Mekeal (Joanna) and Mary Grace Mekeal and two great grandchildren, Michelle Regina Mekeal and Simon William Mekeal.

Lenore Graduated from Amarillo High School, got her Associate degree from Amarillo Community College and her Bachelors in Education from Texas Tech University. She received her Masters degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

She was a passionate teacher who spent most of her career at Baker Elementary School in Westminster School District 50. There she became fast friends with other educators that lasted the rest of her life. They enjoyed reading, bridge, eating out, bad jokes, shows, gripping about administrators, and general cavorting. Her quick wit and sharp tongue will mean that we will miss her dearly.

Lenore was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, Alpha Phi and Dist. 50 Retired Teachers Association.

Services will be held at Simpson United Methodist Church, March 14th at 10:30 am. 6001 Wolff St. Arvada, CO. A reception will follow.
