After high school graduation, Leon began work with the Keebler Company. He left Keebler when he was drafted by the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following the war, he returned to work at Keebler and retired as a baker following 46 years of service.
Leon enjoyed hunting and fishing and baseball, especially the Rockies. He supported the grandchildren as they played sports and loved playing with his great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Halbert.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Halbert; children, Christine (Tom) Celaya and Christopher (Melissa) Halbert; grandchildren, Tom (Karlie) Celaya, Justin Celaya, Cassandra Smith, Rishelle Halbert, Bethany Halbert, Jesse Hart; great grandchildren, Mya Sailas, Kaiya Celaya, Kaileigh Smith, Lilianah Smith, Madison Smith.
Visitation from 4-7pm, Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary. Funeral 2pm, Monday, April 20, 2015 at Olinger Crown Hill Pavilion of Reflection.
