

Leonard DeMar “Mick” Andress, born in Oakland, IA July 19, 1917 passed away October 9, 2011 in Lakewood CO at the age of 94. Mick moved to Denver from the farm in Iowa in the early 1930’s. He was working at Reese House restaurant where he met his wife Norma. After his marriage in 1941, they moved to Portland, OR where he was employed at the ship yards in Willamette, OR prior to joining the U.S. Navy in 1943. He proudly served his country in the South Pacific during World War II where he was a Machinist Mate III Class attached to a company of Marines. After leaving the Navy in December 1945, he worked for Millar Coffee Company as a sales representative. He later owned his own café, the Triangle Café, in lower downtown Denver for 25 years. He loved going to their cabin in Heeney, CO, boating and snowmobiling. After retirement from the restaurant he was active in the VFW and American Legion where he was a member of the Honor Guard for more than 10 years serving on funeral duty. He was also a lifelong member of the Elks Club where he did a lot of charitable work. Mick had a kind heart and was always willing to help family and neighbors.
He was father of two daughters, Shirley Maloney (deceased) and Linne Puskas of Denver and is also survived by his wife of 70 years, Norma, three grandchildren, Jeff Puskas, Kim Maloney-Schroeder (Jeff Schroeder) and Heather Fitzgerald (Scott Fitzgerald), three great grandchildren Nolan Schroeder and Curtis and McKenna Fitzgerald, and his sister Betty Jones and her family of Rodgers, AR. We will always miss him and he will be in our thoughts and prayers.
