Leonila “Nila” Baca passed away peacefully at Denver Health Hospital on Saturday April 21, 2018 at the Age of 84 following a heart attack. She had family with her when she took her last breath. Nila was born November 1, 1933 in Pueblitos New Mexico, was married in 1953 to Esteban “Steve” Baca and became a widow in February of 2000.
Survivors include her three daughters, Jane Madrid her husband Joe, Sandra Baca, Laura Miller and her husband Malcolm all living in Denver, Colorado. Grandchildren include: Steve Madrid, Windy Madrid and her husband Ken Lensnansky, Amanda Gonzales and her husband Geremy, Cliff Madrid and his wife Bianca, Nick Madrid, Armando Vigil, Valerie Brakebill and her husband Joseph, Juan Medina and his wife Katie, and Chelsea Medina.
Great grandchildren include Larissa Madrid, Maria Zavala, TJ Esteban Zavala, Gracie and Aaron Madrid, Trini, Israel, and Journey Ornelas, Jeremiah Gonzalez, Lainy Gonzalez, June Medina, also Jaxon Cook, Mykkel, Jayson, Alex, and Shawn Lensnansky, Monica, Geremy Jr, and Alyssa Gonzales.There were many other children through the years that called her Grandma and she loved all of them.
She is survived by several sisters and brothers in law that stayed dear to her. They live in New Mexico and California.
She had many Nieces, Nephews, god children, and lifelong friends and felt close to all of them.
Closed casket visitation is Monday, April 30 form 4-6:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 West 29th Ave in Wheat Ridge CO with the Rosary following. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St Rose Catholic Church, 355 S Navajo St., Denver, CO 80223 followed by burial service at 2:00 P.M. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave in Denver.
Nila was the last and youngest of ten children born to Ruperto and Nicanora Gomez of Belen New Mexico so she closes the book on this generation the wonderful Gomez Family, Moms, Dads, Uncles Aunts -a generation like no other.
Nila you will always be remembered with open arms and an open heart. You are loved and will be missed, rest in peace and carry our dearest love to all your brothers and sisters, Grandma Nicanora and Grandpa Rupert too. I am sure if they are together there will be a lot of laughter, hugs and dancing.
