Lewis Gene Cordry
December 4, 1936 – June 10, 2018
Lewis (Lew) Cordry passed away on June 10, 2018 in Wheatridge, CO after a long illness. Lewis was the only child of the late Violet (Archer) Cordry and was born in Del Norte, CO on December 4, 1936. He also lived in Creede, CO and Mesa, AZ as a child, but most of his life he lived in Arvada, CO.
He married Sally Thomas on November 21, 1954 at the Fruitdale Baptist Church in Wheatridge, CO. They had three children, Larry, Synthia (Sindy), and Shelli.
Lew worked for the City of Arvada for over twenty (20) years as the Superintendent of Transmission and Distribution. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Arvada Fire Department where he served some of his time as Captain of Fire House Four and Assistant Fire Chief of the department. As a fire fighter, Lew helped extinguish numerous fires and helped save several lives. After he retired from the City of Arvada, Lew worked for Layne Environmental and Dave Kessler as a pump and control technician installing and maintaining pump stations for various golf courses across the United States, including Hawaii which allowed him to take Sally along.
Lew was also a member of the Arvada Fire Department’s running team that competed against other fire departments at the local, state and national levels. The running team won several trophies over the years. Lew’s favorite competition was the one during the Arvada Harvest Festival because it was home turf and because the Fire Department also participated in the annual Harvest Festival Parade.
Lew enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, spending time with family, and watching the Colorado Rockies and the Minnesota Vikings play.
He is survived by his wife Sally; son Larry Cordry and his wife Jennifer; daughter Synthia (Sindy) Archuleta and her husband Scott; daughter Shelli Chapman and her husband Rick; grandchildren; Alisha (Cordry) Jones and her husband Jeff, Angela (Cordry) Prokop, and Andrew Chapman and his wife Jenna; great-grand children; Amanda Jones, Brianna Jones, Jeff (JJ) Jones, Leanna Prokop, Alawna Prokop, Lelana (Lela) Prokop, and Emmie Chapman. He is also expecting a great-great-grand son this month. He is also survived by several brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
The family of Lewis Cordry would like to thank you all for your kindness, thoughts, and prayers.

It has been a month since you passed and I think about you every day. I am sure you are free from all the health issues you had here on earth. I know you are watching over us because of the many signs you have showed us. The scanned pictures were the most unusual so far.
Until we meet again, I love you,

Lew was a big brother to me. I made a lot of life choices because of him. He was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him.
Had some great hunting trips with Lew, packing in horseback on the Frying Pan river from Meredith.
And working on the farm and ranch.
