It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linda Lee Garton on February 12, 2025, at the age of 77. Linda was born on June 7, 1947 in Denver, CO to Mary Margaret and Lloyd Wayne Fenton.
Linda, the eldest of three children enjoyed having her brother and sister as her best friends. Linda loved working at her grandfather's popcorn store where she would make popcorn balls, Easter baskets and caramel popcorn. When she later attended West High School in Denver, some of Linda's achievements included being active in the pep club where she would cheer at all football and basketball games and assisted as a junior escort in which she walked seniors to their seats during the procession and handed them their diplomas. During high school, she would babysit to earn extra money for the drive inn and for her first car. She would later purchase a yellow 1962 Chevrolet Corvair which was her pride and joy. After she graduated in 1965, she worked in the candy department at Woolworths. During this time, Linda also attended Emily Griffith School of Opportunity and earned her Associates degree.
Linda then met her soul mate and best friend Richard Garton. They married on June 1, 1974, with a wonderful three-day honeymoon in Steamboat Springs. Once married, Linda and Richard raised their family with their daughters Debra and Julie. As a homemaker, Linda was an amazing cook in which homemade spaghetti and meatballs, stew and chicken and dumplings were some of her many specialties. Linda's love for music included Elvis Presley, Lize Minnelli, Alan Jackson and Rodney Crowell. One of her favorite songs was Lean on Me by Bill Withers. She enjoyed gardening where she grew roses, lilies, gardenias, among many other flowers. Linda also loved to travel, with Termopolis WY, Lawton OK, Guanella Pass CO and Las Vegas NV being some of her favorites. After Richard retired, traveling to Graceland and Dollywood were a couple trips on her bucket list. Sadly, she was unable to travel to either location prior to her passing.
In November of 2021, Linda spent a month and a half in the hospital with COVID. One of her goals while she was in the hospital was to get better so she could celebrate 50 years of marriage with Richard. She was determined and worked hard to make that goal a reality. In June of 2024, Linda and Richard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together with their family.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Lloyd, her mother Mary Margaret , brother Steve, son Richard Jr and great granddaughter, Payton.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Richard, sister Theresa (James), daughter Debra (Tom), and daughter Julie (Mac), grandchildren Chantel (Mike) and Bret (Julie), and great grandchildren Adi, Camden, Emery and Eloise.
Linda's family invites those who wish to celebrate her life and share in the memories to join them for her service on Friday, March 7th @ 10:30am at Crown Hill Cemetery 7777 W. 29th Ave, Wheatridge, CO
