

After graduating from high school, Lois worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company as an Operator for a few years. She then was appointed as Deputy County Clerk of Sedgewick County where she worked until she married George Chaney of Lodgepole, NE in 1943. He served six years in the military and four of those she was able to be with him. They were based in California, Georgia, Missouri, Louisiana and Texas. where her husband received an honorable discharge and moved to Denver.
In 1956, Lois and George moved to Wheat Ridge where they raised their children. After George retired, they began wintering in Arizona and became "Snow Birds". George and Lois ultimately bought a home in Peoria, AZ where they resided until he passed away in 2001. Lois was active in all the things offered in their Arizona resort community- bridge, golfing, square dancing, clogging, singing in chorus, and playing her keyboard at social functions. She moved back to Lakewood in 2003 to be closer to her children and lived in Belmar Commons where she enjoyed an active life. In 2017 she moved to Village at Belmar where she resided until her passing.
She is survived by her four children: Douglas (Georgia) Chaney, Patricia Sorensen, Ronald (Janet) Chaney, and Terri (Geno) Crusan; eight grandchildren: Troy (Michelle) Chaney, Jennifer (Robert) Colter. Benjamin (Daryn) Sorensen, Emily Sorensen, Katherine (Ken) Kelley, Elizabeth Chaney, Evan (Zazuki) Chaney and Wilson Chaney; and eight great grandchildren: Jackson, Megan, Kellen, Maddie, Riley, Hudson, McKenna and Jordan.
