Lois Jean Dexter

July 26, 1936 – November 9, 2021
Obituary of Lois Jean Dexter
IN THE CARE OF

Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery - Crown Hill

Born to Clarence B. Hedenskog and Florence M. Chambers on 7/26/1936. Both parents predeceased her. She died on Tuesday, 11/9/2021, of kidney failure, a complication resulting from her Type 2 diabetes. She had also suffered from dementia for many years.

Widow of Edward E. Dexter. Survived by daughter Debra J. Dexter-Hinerman, son-in-law Orville H Hinerman III of Arvada, granddaughters Lindsay J. Ross (Brad) of Westminster, Shannon M. Pachikara (Bruce) of Arvada, and Hannah E. Hinerman of Arvada; great-grandchildren Camden and Livia Ross and William and Marlowe Pachikara; sister Margaret O’Donnell of Thornton and niece Tina Martin and nephew Timothy Narodowg.

Lois was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and graduated from East High School. She was married to and divorced from Donald D. Roberts (deceased), then was married to the love of her life, Ed, for 36 years. She loved riding on the back of his motorcycle around Colorado (especially Estes Park) and across the country with their Noble Cycle friends. In the winter, they loved riding snow mobiles in the mountains. When they weren’t riding something, they were dancing or playing cards with friends. She enjoyed numerous family vacations in Glenwood Springs, Estes Park, Mazatlan, Mexico, and one fabulous trip to Hawaii. She and Ed also went on one Caribbean cruise with friends. In later years, she and Ed would spend a month or two of the winter in Padres Island, Texas. After Ed passed, she enjoyed many family trips to the mountains with her daughter and son-in-law, with one trip to Cancun for her granddaughter’s wedding. For many years she was an avid reader. Other favorite activities were shopping for clothes and books, eating out, and playing cards with her lady friends.

She dearly loved all three of her granddaughters and four great grandchildren but was especially proud that her youngest granddaughter was born on her birthday. She would go on and on, to anyone who listened, about how proud she was of Lindsay, Shannon and Hannah, how beautiful they each were, and all of their special qualities and talents. During Debbie and Orville’s last visit with her, on the Sunday before she passed, she asked about each granddaughter and great grandchild and enjoyed looking at recent pictures of all of them, marveling about how quickly they were growing up.

Private family service to be held on November 29, 2021. Final internment at Crown Hill cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.
